Seminars have become increasingly popular in the business world. It seems every man, woman and their dog are jumping on the band wagon. Every significant marketer is aspiring to become the “sought after speaker” and make big bucks doing it. Wherever you turn online and offline there is a seminar being proclaimed. There are seminars for every occasion and topic you can think of and people are buying into them.

Tickets can cost $500-$1000 and more depending on who is speaking. People desperate to learn the inside secrets that will make them filthy rich, in just a few months, are flocking to these seminars in huge numbers and spending boatloads of cash, which they can often ill afford.

So are these speakerthons ridiculously over priced? Some would say so. Will you get back your investment when you implement all these great gems of information? A few smart and farsighted people will.

How can you get your full benefits from a Seminar?

1. Take a notebook, pen and concentration to the lectures/speeches. Take full advantage of the free coffee and be alert for those gold nuggets of information. Write them down and also always jot down any questions that arise.

2. Make sure you have plenty of professional business cards and a good-looking name badge. Remember to contact them when you return home.

3. Ask questions, give answers and discuss intelligently and above all be friendly and respectable.

4. If you can ask questions or talk to the speakers do it. Do not be intimidated by those who are more successful than you. However be aware that their time is limited so have a couple of quick and relevant questions ready.

So the answer to the question: Can attending seminars help my business? The answer is yes if the speakers are knowledgeable and you come prepared

Your second question: Can seminars help your business? Yes they will. When they are done right they will result in a great deal of publicity and will jump-start your business.

However if done wrong you will be seriously out of pocket. Seminars are fairly expensive to organize and you will have to sell a minimum number of tickets to even break even. With this in mind decide if you can really afford to invest this much into your business at this moment in time and whether you can realistically gain the publicity and sales you need.

In order to make a seminar fly it is critical that you take into consideration

1. Your theme-it needs to be a high demand hot subject that will attract people to want to know more about it

2. Make sure your speakers are good and experienced. Ticket holders must get their monies worth and more.

3. Never make your Seminar a sell-a-thon. Keep the items for sale in the back of the room. Give your guests the feeling that you are giving to them not trying to make a quick sale.

4. Hire a decent hall with light refreshments and plenty of coffee.

5. Try to make your seminar an exciting and a great learning experience for your visitors. Over deliver whenever possible.

6. Hire a reliable promoter to take care of all off line promotions and accommodations for your Seminar.

7. Market online as well as offline

8. If you can hire affiliates or sales people for a commission to sell tickets try to do this.

With these few points you can get an idea if seminars will benefit you and your business. Do not just rush in and jump on the bandwagon. Seminars are a serious investment and should be carefully considered before you invest your hard earned money. There is a lot of money to be made with seminars and also quite a bit to loose.
